LUSK – Last week at the LEMS commons, the Niobrara County High School boys basketball team held their post season awards banquet. Head coach Ed Fullmer, along with assistants Andie Hubbard and Reece Andre handed out a dozen varsity letters and a pair of white letters for seniors Cory Bruegger and Camden Rose.
Three time letter winners was the junior trio of Quintin Bieri, Ridge Kupke and Jackson Smith. Four sophomores earned their second – Isaac Assman, Charlie Gaukel, Corbin Matthews and Nathan Miller. Senior Aidan Mattheus and freshmen Raynce Brott and Brady Swisher all earned their first Tiger basketball letter.
2A all-state honors went to Bruegger and Mattheus. The pair also became three time SEWAC all-conference and Southeast all-region players. Kupke was also included on the 2A Southeast All-Region team. Bruegger was named Player of the Year for the SEWAC and 2A Southeast region.
Hubbard presented junior varsity awards to Kayden Goodwin for most improved, Brady Swisher for most coachable and Charlie Gaukel with the Tiger spirit award.
Andre gave ‘C’ squad awards to David West for most improved, Colton Bracklesberg for best teammate and Ryan Youngquist with the Tiger spirit award.
Fullmer’s awards included Raynce Brott for most improved, Camden Rose for best teammate and Isaac Assman for the spark award. The Heart and Soul Award was given to Ridge Kupke, Nathan Miller and Jackson Smith. The free throw ladder team of Bieri, Kupke, Swisher and Malachi Ybarra won the season-long competition.
To wrap up the evening, Fullmer showed a video of highlights from the Tigers fantastic season.
