LUSK - In keeping with the Hawaiian fair theme, the fourth and final Niobrara County 4-H Activity Day was held on July 18th at the Fairgrounds, with 15 youth and 9 adults in attendance. The kids had a busy morning starting off with half of them enjoying a sip & paint with Carla Stroh and Barbara Orr where they each painted a tiki. Members prepared a Luau feast for lunch.
The menu for the day included Hawaiian Pork Roast, Garlic Butter Shrimp, Pink Hawaiian Salad, Polynesian Squares, Pineapple Slush, Malasadas, and Hawaiian Butter Mochi. In the afternoon the 4-H members finished up with the solar wood burning and the other half painted their tikis.
The 4-H members that attended that day included: Sadie Sturman, Phoebe and Tia Allbright, Gracie, Melody and Emily ZumBrunnen, Kinsey Keller, Miranda Smith, Katie, Karen and Krista Schardt, Sidney Southwick, Kort Bannan, and John, Ivan and Edmunds Kremers. The day was a great success thanks to the leaders who volunteered their time – Donna Hanson, Carla Stroh and Barbara Orr. Niobrara County Extension Educator Deninse Smith, Niobrara County Extension Administrative Assistant Erin Smith, Niobrara County 4-H Educator Kellie Chichester, UW 4-H Summer Intern Mattie Pfister, and Niobrara County Extension Summer Interns Kylie Strauch and Sierra Lemons.
