LUSK - Proposed amendments to ordinances 8-15-120, 8-15-130 and 8-15-150 which would have aligned city ordinances with state statutes in verbiage regarding the presence of minors in bars and the ability of those minors to be served alcohol failed for lack of motion at Tuesday’s meeting.

LUSK -Several items of discussion at Monday’s board meeting lead to tension during the brief meeting. During board reports the ongoing conflict regarding the video recording of board meetings and subsequent publication of them on social media or YouTube was again brought up.
LUSK - Police K9 Xana (Zah-nah), a 2.5 year old German Shepherd was introduced to the Lusk town council at the September 5 meeting. Xana is the new K9 officer for the Lusk department with partner Jake Gordon.
LUSK - Discussion regarding current zoning laws, the ongoing revision to the zoning and planning regulations and economic opportunities in Niobrara were a large portion of Tuesday’s commissioner meeting.
LUSK - The Wyoming County Commissioners Association hosted representatives from a dozen congressional offices during the Natural Resources Tour. The tour for the region which included Niobrara county emphasized the need for appropriate natural resource management which includes energy sector specifically oil, gas and coal. The tour served as an educational tour regarding the socio-economic benefits of appropriate resource management with multiple-use options for both public and private lands.

LUSK - Extensive discussion was held during Tuesday’s commissioner meeting regarding county compliance with HB0060. This bill requires specific training from the state auditors office for all elected board members and any elected officials and staff who are responsible for public funds, the handle of public money or budgets involving public funds. The training is being offered both in person in Cheyenne and virtually on Wednesday August 23.

LUSK - The Niobrara Community Benefit Bridge group has finished their 2022-2023 season. Dues collected were donated to the Stagecoach Museum to be used on their projects.
