LUSK – Pending winter weather necessitated the first board meeting for newly elected member Rachel Manning and Joyce Hammer be a shorter version than usual and move to 5 p.m. to try and ensure the most important aspects of the agenda be completed at the Dec. 12 meeting.

Reorganization of the board occurred first. For the 2023 board year, Lexie Ashurst will remain the board chairman, vice chair will be Katie Kruse, clerk is Cheryl Lund and Amber Smith will move into the treasurer position.

The board approved the meeting calendar for 2023, amending the meeting on April 10 (Easter Monday) to Tuesday, April 11. The officers of clerk, treasurer and chairman were also authorized for the bank signature cards and bonded per state statute.

The consent agenda was approved with clarification on the minutes regarding Katherine Kruse’s association with the basketball team from the previous meeting.

In action items, the Lusk Herald was approved as the district newspaper and Lusk State Bank and Bank of the West were approved as the district financial institutions.

Policy IDA was approved on second reading. During discussion of the third reading the changes made to the policy were reviewed and discussed and then the policy passed with amendments on third reading.

The board approved the purchase of a new district suburban for the price of $52,045. This vehicle will potentially replace the one that has been pulled from the North Lance Creek route. The district began seeking bids for this replacement last year in November and this is the first bid that it has received and is reasonable and available for pick up in Wheatland.

Current para-educator Amy Pontarolo was approved to move into the certified position of district librarian/media specialist. Pontarolo will start in her new position on January 3. The board also accepted the resignation of Katherine James, WYVA employee effective December 31.

Isolation reimbursement was approved for Heather Heth for two students for a total of 8 miles per day.

No executive session was needed and the meeting adjourned.
