Foam on the range

LUSK – There was foam on the range at the Niobrara County Library last Tuesday.

A group of 148 children and adults found themselves en- gulfed in a swirling mass of bubbles. No, there wasn’t an outbreak of rabies. Nor was it a load of laundry left to spin with too much soap. The source of the bubbling broth was a foam party hosted by the Friends of the Niobrara County Library.

According to Debbie Stur- man, the foam party was the first of its sort to be held at the library. Yet, given the sizable turnout for the event, it likely won’t be the last time.

“We anticipate it being an annual event,” Sturman said. “Everyone loved it. It was great fun.”

The foam and fun were pro- vided by Ann Lincoln Enter- tainment, a one-woman per- forming arts operation special- izing in magic, comedy, juggling and, of course, foam parties. “We’re always looking for pro- gramming,” Sturman said. “We knew that she [Lincoln] had provid- ed at other libraries. So, when I saw that she was back in the area, I contacted her.”

The foam party represents the crescendo to a broader series of sum- mer events. These included the Rocky Mountain Puppets, Wisconsin

Schneider and the Magic of Music and Dr. Noize in concert. Sturman voiced her satisfaction with this eclectic lineup.

“We’ve had fantastic performers all summer long,” Sturman said.
