NIOBRARA COUNTY – Another primary election is down in the books for 2024 with wins and losses for both local and state elections.

US Senator John Barrasso was re- elected for another term with 560 votes. The challenger, Reid Rasner, lost the election with 264 votes.

US Congresswoman Harriet Hageman was re-elected, racking up 799 votes to overcome her challenger, Steven Helling.

At a local level, Jeb Hanson was elected for his first term as Niobrara County Commissioner. Hanson received 618 votes over Joe McDan- iel, who earned 245 votes.

“Thanks for your votes and thanks Joe McDaniel for running a good campaign,” said Hanson of his recent win. “I’m honored to be your Republican nominee going into the general election.”

JD Williams will represent Gosh- en, Weston and Niobrara County as Wyoming House of Representative District Two. Williams was elected with 599 votes, thereby unseating incumbent Allen Slagle. Slagle took home 296 votes.

“I just wanted to congratulate JD [Williams] on his win for House District #2,” Slagle said. “Thank you everyone who helped me with my campaign.”

“Thank you to everyone who chooses courage even though it is sometimes uncomfortable. Thank you to everyone who chooses what is true over what they want to hear,” Williams said. “Thank you to everyone who chooses to live and demonstrate our Wyoming values. I appreciate you very much and am humbled and motivated by your support. There is no place I would rather be than Wyoming!”
