Lady Tigers wrap busy week

CRAWFORD, NEBRASKA – After nine days off, the Niobrara County High School (NCHS) volleyball team traveled across state lines to face the host Lady Rams and Hemingford last Tuesday.

In the first match Crawford won in two sets, 25-15 and 25-19, but the Lady Tigers came back and knocked off the Lady Bobcats in two sets, 25-18 and 25-19.

SARATOGA – Lusk spent the weekend in Carbon County at the 1A Jamboree that featured 19 schools. Despite an extended power outage on Saturday, the Lady Tigers played six matches in two days.

First up was Kaycee and the Lady Bucs defeated NCHS, 27-25 and 25-15. 

To follow that, Lusk faced Fort Washakie (in their first year of varsity sports) and defeated the Lady Eagles, 25-12 and 25-6. 

To round out Friday’s schedule the Lady Tigers dropped a pair of matches to Encampment’s Lady Tigers, 25-23 and 25-17.

Saturday’s first match was against Burlington and Lusk took the first set, 25-22. The Lady Huskies rallied to win the second set, 25-16 and the third set by a 15-9 margin.

Upton was across the net for the second time in this young season and held off NCHS in a pair of close sets, 25-18 and 25-21. To wrap up their eighth match in five days the Lady Tigers defeated Hanna-Elk Mountain with a pair of 25-17 scores.

The junior varsity split two sets against Hemingford by scores of 10-15 and 15-9. The ‘C’ squad fell at Crawford, 15-9 and 15-11.

The Lady Tigers finally hit the home court at Tiger Gym on Thursday evening as Sioux County, Nebraska, visits. The varsity only match tips off at 5 p.m. They follow that up with a trip to Guernsey-Sunrise on Saturday afternoon.
