LUSK – Elks Lodge #1797 will be hosting their annual Hunter Ranch Feed on September 30. According to Lusk Elks Exalted Ruler Sam Blaney, the Hunter Rancher Feed began several decades ago and has been a tradition for hunters and ranchers, who come together to network with one another.

Blaney told the Herald that the Niobrara Chamber of Commerce had begun the long-standing tradition in the 1960’s. It was a few years later when the Elks Lodge took it over and has been hosting it ever since.

The hunters, outfitters and ranchers are able to come together for a meal. Each party has an opportunity to share information and their own hunting experiences within Niobrara County.

Every year, the Elks raffle a rifle and this year is no exception. This year, the rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard synthetic stock 7mm-08 REM with a scope and sling. Tickets are six for $5 or a $1 each and can be purchased at the Niobrara Chamber of Commerce, Lusk Elks Lodge, and The Pub. Potential winners must be qualified to own a firearm and need not to be present to win. The Elks Lodge bar will be open at 4 p.m. The dinner will be at 5 p.m. at the Lusk Elks Lodge and the drawing will be held at 7 p.m. on September 30. Dinner tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the door.
