LUSK – On October 1, Mayor Doug Lytle announced the departure of Coun- cilman Bo Krein during the Town of Lusk meeting.

Mayor Lytle thanked councilman Krein for his time and wished him luck. Coun- cilman Krein has moved from Lusk be- cause of his job and, since he is no longer a member of Lusk, he cannot hold his po- sition as a councilman.

The council briefly mentioned a brain- storming session during which they en- tertained the possibility of holding street dances or even an Octoberfest.

Unfortunately, these plans did not ma- terialize because of a lack of time. Mayor Lytle stated he’d like to see more of these events because he felt they promoted com- munity cohesion. Police Chief Jacob Gor-

don stated the police department were thinking about holding some sort of hide- and-seek event or the youth.

The Municipal percentage of Lodg- ing Tax for the General Fund was dis- cussed. According to Mayor Lytle, the town may take up to 10% and use that tax revenue in the general fund. Ac- cording to Mayor Lytle, the town uses municipal feed to fund several ameni- ties, including parks, the pool, and the Municipal Golf Course.

The council decided the 10% should go to the Lodging Tax Board, which can sub- sequently use the money to promote Lusk.

The council asked to have a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee to report back to the council as to where and how the Lodging Tax funds are being spent.

The next Town of Lusk Council meeting will be November 5 at 5 p.m. at the town Hall.
