NIOBRARA COUNTY – Joe McDaniel is no stranger to hard work and perseverance. McDaniel has begun his campaign for a four-year term open seat as a Niobrara County Commissioner. McDaniel has been a 20-year resident of Niobrara County and 12 years ago he started his own business, Windy Hill Construction. Windy Hill Construction is a company that help lays fiber optics and cable all over the state of Wyoming.
NIOBRARA COUNTY – Long time rancher Jeb Hanson decided that it was time he served Niobrara County in the capacity of county commissioner. The open seat for one county commissioner is a four year term and Hanson is ready to go to work for Niobrara County if elected.
LUSK – The Legend of Rawhide is certainly no small endeavor. It is an elaborate production involving more than 200 people from the local community. Feeding such a large cast and crew can be a daunting task. For more than 20 years now, Teri Goddard has been tackling that task.
NIOBRARA COUNTY - Willy Wilcox is no stranger to the community of Lusk nor that of Niobrara County School District #1 (NCSD#1). After 45 years of service in maintenance, that he has decided to retire.
NIOBRARA COUNTY - Several Lusk residents were placed behind bars on Saturday, June 22. Yet, the reason for the residents’ brief incarceration was not what one would initially surmise. Lusk was not experiencing some freak crimewave. Instead, townsfolk were invited to tour the historic Niobrara County jail, which is situated adjacent to the courthouse. Saving the old jail has been the passionate mission of former county commissioner Greg Starck. According to Starck’s sister-in-law, Barbara Cushman, the jail owes its continued existence to the former county commissioner. The Niobrara County Commission have been kept in the loop during the process of what to do with the old jail.
NIOBRARA COUNTY - The Niobrara County School District #1 was engulfed in controversy on June 10 when the board of trustees voted 5-4 to censure Trustee Joyce Hammer. According to Superintendent George Mirich, the censure was in response to a Facebook post and a private message sent by Hammer to a school employee.
The Niobrara County Clerk's Office is getting out the word regarding changes to this year's election cycle. One of those changes went into effect on March, 3, 2023. The law now prevents people from changing their party affiliations at the polls on Primary Election Day. Individuals wishing to change political parties will now have until May 15, 2024. The law will not apply to new registrations and changes to political affiliations will be permitted subsequent to the Primary Election. Those wishing to make changes before the May 15 deadline are required to do so in person at the Niobrara County Clerk's Office located in the Niobrara County Courthouse. People will still be permitted to make name and address changes at the polls. According to Niobrara County Clerk Becky Freeman, the new law is meant to prevent "crossover voting," which is an attempt to undermine the results of closed party elections.

NIOBRARA – The Niobrara County Cattlewomen cel- ebrated their Christmas party on December 13 with mem- bers and a guest speaker, the president of the Wyoming Cattlewomen, Tani Wohlbrandt. The stated goal of the Niobrara County Cattlewomen has been the positive promotion of beef.
Tis the season to be shopping for friends and family! And, there was no shortage of homemade crafts, cuisines, and other holiday items at the Niobrara County Christmas Bazaar on Friday and Saturday. Sponsored by the Niobrara County Homemakers, this annual holiday event allows sundry vendors to display and sell their wares at the local Fairgrounds. According to Homemakers Secretary and Chairwoman of the Bazaar Donna Hanson, the event began in 1986 and, with the exception of the dark years of the pandemic, has grown ever since. On average, the Bazaar draws between 60 and 70 vendors every holiday season. Hanson stated that Lusk has always enthusiastically embraced this beloved Christmas tradition.

LUSK - According to dispatch data, the first 911 call came in at 2136 on Saturday, October 14, from a bus driver south of Lusk on 85 reporting that the bus he was driving in the north bound lane full of college football players was on fire.
