Harriers ‘shine brightly’

WRIGHT  The Niobrara County Tiger cross-country team traveled to gusty Wright, Wyoming on Saturday to compete in the Britanny Rentas Memorial XC Meet.

The Tigers shined brightly with the girls winning the middle school team title over Sundance, 15-22. This is the season’s second top two finish for the girls.  

Maci Lyons won her second meet in a row winning gold in a time of 13 minutes, 12 seconds.

Teammate Hazel Gaukel was fourth in the 1.9-mile race in a time of 14:35.

Sixth-grader Avery Johnson had her best race of the year finishing ninth in a time of 15:36.

Aalyiah Pavone added her second top 10 finish of the year with a 10th-place finish in 15:57.

Izzy Requejo had a nice run finishing just outside of the top 10 in 12th place in a time of 16:09.

In the boys’ race, Paul Kruse had a fantastic finish running 14:30 to finish in 10th place. It is the first time he has finished in the top 10.

Fellow runner Cooper Skeen finished in 12th place crossing the finish line in 15:35.

The Tigers travel to Pine Haven on Friday to compete in the Wolves Invite.
