LUSK – Last Thursday night Niobrara County High School (NCHS) began October with a Pink Out for breast cancer awareness month. Lingle-Fort Laramie visited Tiger Gym and was met by a fired up and feisty Lady Tiger squad.

The first set was close from the start, with the visitors never leading by more than four points. Lusk tied it at 16 and briefly held an 18-17 lead, before LFL went on an 8-3 run to win the first set 25-21.

The Lady Doggers ran out to a 6-1 lead in the second set before a timeout. NCHS found themselves in a 14-6 hole before rallying with a 10-4 run of their own. It wasn’t enough as the visitors pulled away for the 25-20 win.

Lusk led 5-4 in the third set, but a series of unforced errors helped the Lady Doggers to a 14-7 lead. NCHS couldn’t right the ship in time in the 25-12 defeat.

PINE BLUFFS – Bus troubles around Lingle delayed the Lady Tigers from starting on time in the Hornet’s Nest Friday evening. Lusk dropped the first set 25-15 before rebounding to even the match. The nail-biter was a 26-24 win for NCHS and the third set was another close one. The home team won 25-20 and took the fourth set by a 25-13 score.

The junior varsity had a busy week that began Tuesday against Torrington. The Lady Tigers won the first set, 25-19 and took the match with a 27-25 win in the second set.

Against the Lady Doggers, Lusk fell in two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22. Pine Bluffs outlasted NCHS, 30-28, in the first set before also taking the second set by a 25-16 score.

The ‘C’ squad defeated LFL, 25-19 and 25-22, before falling at Pine Bluffs, 20-18 and 22-20.

This weekend the Lady Tigers travel to the Kaycee tournament where they will face Dubois, Arvada-Clearmont, Burlington and Encampment.
