Lady Tigers defeat Warriors and Vikings

LUSK – Niobrara County High School’s volleyball team had a much lighter schedule this past week and was able to win both matches.

On Thursday afternoon Sioux County, Nebraska came to Tiger Gym to open the home schedule. The Lady Tigers held a slim 10-9 lead in the first set before a 10-5 run. Lusk won the first set 25-16.

NCHS opened the second set with a 4-0 lead and moved it to 11-3 behind impressive net play from seniors Hannah Krein, Paige Potter and Gracie ZumBrunnen. 

The visitors were overmatched and the Lady Tigers finished the set on a 14-0 run for the 25-3 win.

The Lady Warriors didn’t fold easily as the third set was tied at four. 

From there the Lady Tigers took over and led 16-7 before a timeout. The visitors made a late run but it wasn’t enough as NCHS took the sweep with a 25-15 third set win.

GUERNSEY – On Saturday afternoon the Lady Tigers began conference play on the road at Guernsey-Sunrise. After dropping the first set 25-22, Lusk won three in a row to take the match.

The Lady Tigers host Southeast Friday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m., and the Tiger Invitational begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
